A-118 Psychedelic Interventions for Neuropsychological Conditions

Abstract Objective: Psychedelic-assisted therapies are emerging as safe and effective treatments for some psychological conditions including depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders. As ketamine therapy is already available in general medicine 3,4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) psilocybin late-stage clinical trials, neuropsychologists should be aware of these options. The goal this study was to identify new targets psychedelic intervention evaluate the applicability contraindications those with neuropsychological conditions. Data Selection: A systematic literature search performed using 128 topic keywords covering topics related pharmacology, risk, neuroscience, neuropsychology, change, applications. These were searched combination names eight major psychedelics a total 1024 separate Google Scholar searches. This yielded 4319 papers over hundred included based on translational relevance. Synthesis: synthesized approach, findings building from basic research application. Literature summarized into tables comparing sample, technique, statistical confidence, effect size (computed when not available). Critical analysis generate insights. Conclusion: Emerging opportunities treat conditions, traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular accident, autism spectrum attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder identified. Some also found treatment disorders that co-occur contextualized current state support practitioners providing actionable recommendations.
